The High Button NSU18MHL is currently seeking applicants for the role of League Secretary.

Position: League Secretary
Location: Nova Scotia, Remote
Type: Volunteer
Official Starting Date; June 1, 2025.
Unofficial mentoring during remainder of 2024/25 season.

The NSU18MHL is looking for an organized, detailed individual to join the Executive Board as Secretary. The Secretary is a volunteer, executive-voting position.

About us:

The NSU18MHL is the premier elite level hockey league based out of Nova Scotia, composing of the top 15-17year-old players in Nova Scotia. With 8 teams located across the province, the NSU18MHL has successfully developed and placed players at the next level for almost 50 years.

  • Percentage of expenses covered each season by League.

  • Free access to all exhibition, regular season, play-off and tournament NSU18MHL games.

  • Flexibly of location/time.

  • Take part in maintaining, and progressing the League towards higher standards and more

    efficient operations.

     

     

    Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Secretary is responsible for:
  • Organizing/scheduling/participating in meetings. (approx. 10 per year)

  • Recording minutes of all official NSU18MHL board meetings.

  • Being present at the Annual/Semi Annual General Meetings. (New Glasgow/HRM)

  • Assorted administrative tasks.

  • Maintaining scholarships, selecting scholarship/bursary recipients at end of season.

  • Signing authority on League cheques/documents when required.

  • Sitting on Executive Committee of Cleve’s Source for Sports IceJam.

  • Assisting IceJam where required.

  • Additional support to the Board when required

     

     

    Relevant Experience & Skills:

  • Experience on Executive Committees, Boards or other organizations.

  • Administrative experience.

  • Communication experience.

  • A background or experience in sports management (volunteer or professional).

  • Functional computer skills (Zoom, Excel, Word, email, Canva, vector images).

A minimum of a two-year commitment would be ideal, but not required. Official start date is June 1st 2025. The opportunity to engage with the Board of Directors and shadow the outgoing Secretary is available and recommended for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.
