NOVA SCOTIA U18 MAJOR HOCKEY LEAGUE FRANCHISE
APPLICATION OPPORTUNITY.
The Nova Scotia U18 Major Hockey League (NSU18MHL) is opening the
application process to operate the Cole Harbour U18 Franchise.
This process will encompass TWO STEPS.
Step 1.
September 1, 2023 - September 30th, 2023. Provide a Letter of Intent (LOI) to introduce your
organization. 3 Pages maximum, including:
- Introduce people involved.
- Executive structure.
- Provide summary of hockey development program and philosophy.
- Brief financial overview.
- Summary of why your organization is looking to join NSU18MHL.
Letters of Intent will be received and evaluated by the NSU18MHL Selection Committee.
Applicants will then be short-listed. Any applicants not on the short-list will be notified and
thanked before October 15th, 2023.

Step 2.
Short-listed applicants will be instructed to provide a full application (details will be provided)
along with a $25,000 Application Bond. All short-listed applicants will have an in-person
interview. (October-November 2023)
- Additional 30 days for shortlist applications.
- All short-listed applicants will have in-person interview.
- Successful applicant will be selected.
- Successful applicant will then be presented to the NSU18MHL BOD by the Selection
Committee for acceptance and approval.
The $25,000 Application Bond will be returned to the successful applicant less 5% for a
selection-fee to the League after 5 successful seasons. (Less any 1-time asset costs assumed)
The first year is a probationary period where the League can annul the selection.
NOTE: The full amount of the Application Bond shall be considered forfeited should the
successful applicant fail to complete the first five seasons of play after admission to the League.

Interested applicants are invited to provide the initial Letter of Intent (LOI) from Step 1. LOIs
will not be accepted after midnight September 30th, 2023.
All applicants will be notified during the first two weeks of October.
The NSU18MHL develops and places more players in higher levels than any other program in
Atlantic Canada. The Cole Harbour franchise has a history of both player and team success. The
NSU18MHL, along with Hockey Nova Scotia, is pleased to offer this terrific opportunity to
participate in meaningful way in the development of Nova Scotia’s highest level of player
development.
